Painting (Final) – Final Inspection Checklist for Home Builder
This checklist ensures that final painting and finishing are completed to high-quality standards before the trade contractor leaves the jobsite. It emphasizes uniform coverage, smooth finishes, and cleanup, ensuring the interior and exterior paint jobs are flawless and all areas are free of damage or residue.
Apply the second coat of paint to walls, ensuring it is smooth and free of runs, drips, lumps, color variations, streaking, or light spots
Apply the second coat of trim paint to trim and doors, ensuring it is smooth and free of runs, drips, lumps, color variations, streaking, or light spots
Stain or paint all stairs and handrails per the plan
Ensure all stained areas have a uniform appearance with complete coverage
Apply varnish smoothly and uniformly to all stained areas
Ensure there is no damage to drywall, stairs, handrails, trim, or other areas
Remove paint spills without causing damage to vinyl, wood floors, tubs, showers, countertops, or other surfaces
Remove paint from window glass and aluminum trim
Remove paint from door hinges and all hardware
Rehang doors, ensuring they are square, level, plumb, and in their correct locations
Stain thresholds at all exterior doors
Inspect the entire interior paint job under sunlight and normal house lighting from a 6-foot distance to confirm there are no visible defects
Ensure there is no paint residue in sinks
Remove all debris to the dumpster
Clean and broom-sweep the house
Store excess material in the garage
