Carpet – Final Inspection Checklist for Home Builder
This checklist ensures that carpet installation meets quality standards and adheres to project specifications before the trade contractor leaves the jobsite. It emphasizes proper fitting, stretching, and finishing of the carpet while ensuring transitions and seams are seamless and visually appealing. Additionally, it includes cleanup and proper storage of leftover materials.
Ensure the floor is level with no lumps, bumps, hilly areas, or depressions
Cut carpet to within 1/8 inch of the wall
Install transition strips between vinyl and carpet, ensuring they are firmly seated
Attach the pad and carpet securely to the tack strip
Butt the carpet firmly against parquet and hardwood flooring
Ensure no gaps are visible between the carpet and adjacent finishes
Ensure seams are inconspicuous
Stretch the carpet tightly to remove wrinkles
Inspect for uniform color with no obvious variations
Inspect the carpet under normal interior lighting and sunlight from windows
Store leftover carpet in the garage, storeroom, or laundry area
Clean the house and remove all debris
Clean the jobsite
