Trim – Pre-Work Inspection Checklist for Home Builder

It focuses on cleanliness, readiness of the house and garage, and confirming that all prerequisites, such as framed doors and set cabinets, are in place. These steps ensure smooth and accurate trim installation.
Pick up and sign for the plans
Receive the purchase order
Ensure materials are on site and ready to use
Clean the house, ensuring it is broom-swept and free of debris
Clean the garage
Inspect windows to confirm they are intact and unbroken
Ensure stairs are installed
Verify drywall is undamaged
Inspect vinyl to confirm it is undamaged
Cover ducts
Cover and verify tubs are undamaged
Cover and verify sinks, cabinets, and countertops are undamaged
Confirm cabinets are set
Verify doors are framed plumb, correctly sized, and checked against plans for carpet and vinyl areas
Clearly mark the swing of each door on the inside of the doorjamb
Ensure disappearing stairs are installed, if required
Confirm attic access is framed
